Zahira – embodied healing

Zahira Mous’s (1984) has been on the path of meditation since 2009, while already exploring religion and spirituality since she was a young child. In 2022, Zahira met Svarup and Premartha and fell in love with the work and has been with Svarup’s groups and trainings ever since. She completed the two-year program for Healing the Inner Teenager in 2024 and found a second passion in life beyond dance: healing adolescence.

With over twenty years of experience working with people, Zahira is an artistic director, choreographer, performer, writer, community organizer, human rights / women’s rights activist, and group/individual facilitator in somatic modalities.

Zahira has facilitated groups and sessions in Brazil, the United States, the Netherlands, India, Greece, and Palestine. In 2022, Zahira worked together with Dr. Gabor Maté and Kath Temple in Jericho, Palestine for the first trauma healing conference in the Middle East, organized by Ashira Darwish for CATHARSIS.

Zahira holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s & Gender Studies and a Bachelor of Theatre in Education. With trainings in OSHO therapies such as No Mind, Mystic Rose, tantra, art therapy, and body work, Zahira developed her own method called Art in Motion – a healing practice of movement & creativity. She’s certified in NLP & EFT and healing inner teenage. She is the director of dance theater company Project Zahira, the founder/director of the Healing Arts Foundation, co-director of community organization Rest / Resist for decolonized therapeutic & arts practices, and co-founder/director of The Matriarchy with Tania Shoukair. Zahira is based in Amsterdam, but travels abroad frequently.
